RES Objectives
The objectives of the REGINA ENGINEERING SOCIETY (RES) are to promote the interests of the Engineering Profession in close cooperation with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS) to:
- develop and maintain high standards in the engineering profession.
- facilitate the acquirement and the interchange of professional knowledge among its members.
- advance the professional, social, and economic welfare of its members.
- enhance the usefulness of the profession to the public.
- collaborate with universities and other educational institutions in the advancement of engineering education.
- promote good relations and exchange of information between engineers and members of allied professions.
- cooperate with other technical societies for the advancement of mutual interests.
- network with other engineers though various social events.
- encourage original research, and the study, development, and conservation of the resources of Canada.
RES Funding Criteria
Events must meet the required criteria listen below for the Funding Committee to consider the application and approve funding from RES:
- Aligns with the RES objectives (see above);
- Suitable for RES members to host or attend events promoting STEAM through conferences, technical presentations, formal communication, informal communication, community engagement, etc.;
- Suitable for elementary, high school and university students (Kindergarten to University) for hands on STEAM experiments, attending camps/ workshops/ fairs/ conferences, listening to presentations, attending seminars, transportation of students to attend STEAM events etc.;
- Suitable for, and allows for participation from both genders, irrespective of race, color, religion, creed, national origin, ancestry, disability, or other protected status;
- Conducted by “not-for-profit” organization with the aim of promoting STEAM;
- Supervised by professional engineer(s), a professor(s)/teacher(s), engineering students, or someone that can advocate for your project; and
- If funding has been approved by RES, follow-up reports have been received by the specified deadline, containing, at a minimum, the information outlined in the report template.
Funding is open to any organization with events in the City of Regina or involving local chapters in the City of Regina.
RES Funding Application Review
The RES Funding application review process is as follows:
- The RES Funding Committee will distribute the application and relevant documents to all members of the RES Funding Committee for their review, consideration and discussion.
- The RES has two funding cycles to allow for distribution of funds and for applicants to meet deadlines set out by the RES. To receive funding before December of that year, applicants must apply for Funding by October 31. To receive funding before April of that year, applicants must apply for funding before February 28. Funding applications will be reviewed after the funding round closes.
- Funding applications may be approved or rejected. The Committee also reserves the right to approve a lesser than requested amount.
- RES will advise your organization of the committee decision on your funding within 3 to 4 weeks of the RES Funding Committee meeting. If the funding is approved by the RES Funding Committee, a notification letter and cheque will be mailed.
- If approved, your organization must provide a follow-up report to the RES.
